The Portland, Oregon, police chief has been suspended for plugging somebody in the back -- an accident, yeah, sure -- and telling local police (the briefly famous Harney sheriffs) that the shootee did it himself and for not telling investigators he is (or was) a cop.
On Monday, Ward told the Oregonian that O’Dea never identified himself as a police officer or the Portland police chief when questioned by a deputy. Ward also said that O’Dea and others with him suggested that the shooting was self-inflicted.
“I do know it didn’t happen the way it was originally portrayed,” Ward told the newspaper. He said that his office was able to interview the injured man for the first time last week. Ward added: “The victim made it pretty clear he didn’t shoot himself. The victim knew who shot him.”As we in the snarky anti-gun community like to say, was alcohol involved? The story does not say, but it would be irresponsible not to speculate.
At least this one is funny, unlike the death in Illinois of a 7-year-old girl shot be a 3-year-old who was given a gun at a family target shooting party. By a felon not allowed to have guns.

ReplyDeleteBecause, unlike anti-gun zealots, they aren't morally preening hypocrites, that's why.
Instead of reacting with outrage, they react the way reasonable people do: sadness and regret that comes with realizing life comes with tragic accidents.
And 2A supporters can't help but notice the zealots' hypocrisy: The complete absence of outrage at thousands of murdered babies every year through abortion; or the deaths due to drownings, car accidents, falls, alcohol, etc, etc, etc.
Also, 2A supporters also can't help but notice that the zealots are propelled by lies — from Bellesiles, through NYT agenda journalism, right through to Couric — innumeracy (you are a prime example) and full-fledged flight from reason.
The NYT (a paper you apparently don't read) recently reported on Chicago's murder problem. The article repeatedly uses the term "gun violence". Also, the article notes that virtually all the victims are black.
If "gun violence" makes sense, then guns must be racist.
Anti-gun zealots are just as bad as warmenists.

(Oh, considering your analytical impairment, I needed to add that since the majority of murder victims in NYC are black, any use of the term "gun violence" with respect to NYC is every bit as stupid as in the article I cited.)
