Mass guilt

Here is an episode I was not aware of but that resonates today: From Politico Magazine, a story about rounding up Muslims in America.

Read the whole thing.

It was a nice touch to name it Amt IV; shows historical sensitivity

  1. From the article:

And with every fresh attack, at home or abroad, our demand for aggressive prosecution mounts. It is this fear that has underpinned the platform of Donald Trump—his promises of banning Muslims, blocking travel from countries compromised by terrorism and removing millions in a Herculean deportation scheme.

Really? What exactly did he say? Why is wrong to block travel from countries compromised by terrorism?

And, as for the last sentence, neither the author nor the editor is earning a dime of their pay. (See if you can figure out why.)

  2. Well, we didn't do it for the UK during the IRA attacks nor for Israel during the intifada. Nor for Pakistan durig its entire existence.

It's wrong because it's stupid, cowardly, ineffective and silly.

  3. Well, we didn't do it for the UK during the IRA attacks ...

Well, of course you are right, because the IRA was exactly like Islamofascism, and the IRA killed thousands of US citizens.

And, in any event, the sentence I criticized is a lie, which you implicitly acknowledge by, as the author of that piece did, failing to quote exactly what Trump said.

Oh, and one other thing: Islam is incompatible with Western Civilization in general, and the US constitution. Why is it wrong to exclude devout Muslims?

  4. Oh, and I can't help but notice you still haven't addressed that Citizen United post that was based on lies.

  5. Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Brazil, Guatemala, Chilee, Spain . . . I could go on and on. Fascism, especially Christian fascism, is incompatible with American traditions and constitutional principles but our government and Christian politicians have never proposed excluding representatives of those evil movements. Why is that?

  6. Christian fascism ...

Which is what, exactly? Please, by all means, cite Biblical chapter and verse.

And while you are at it, and you won't be, compare and contrast with liberation theology.

Also, what about that CU post? Can I take it that your silence is acknowledgment of either your gullibility and/or dishonesty?

  7. Christian fascism? Don't play dumb; you know very well what it is, the Phalange in Spain, the Rios Montt genocide in Guatemala.

  8. Oh, you mean fascists who happen to be Christian.

Very confusing, "... because I could go on and on. Fascism, especially Christian fascism ..." rather strongly suggests there is something about Christianity that made fascism worse.

So, what, specifically, is in Christianity to make that worse?

... our government and Christian politicians have never proposed excluding representatives of those evil movements. Why is that?

How many representatives of those movements have settled in the US?

Also, what about that CU post? Can I take it that your silence is acknowledgment of either your gullibility and/or dishonesty?

    Yes, and yes.

Another addition to Harry's Big Bag o' Bollocks

  9. 'there is something about Christianity that made fascism worse.'

Ask a Jew from the Bloodlands. Oh, you cannot. Well then . . .

Christianity makes everything worse, because in addition to whatever mischief the unchurched are inclined to, Christinity tells them they must purge the unChristians who are, after all and by definition, enemies of god.

  10. ... Christinity tells them they must purge the unChristians who are, after all and by definition, enemies of god.

    Where?

  13. [Hey Skipper:] Where?

By that I mean where in oh, say, the Bible is says Christinity tells them they must purge the unChristians who are, after all and by definition, enemies of god.

Because you have an extraordinary track record of saying things that are complete bollocks.

  14. Where in he bible does it say anything about virgin births, popes, confession, etc? Little of Christianity derives from the bible.

Religion is as religion does. Christianity has always murdered heretics. Unless restrained by secular government.

  15. Harry, I am looking for some authority more persuasive than that blowing out of your hat.

So when you say Christianity tells them they must purge the unChristians, and defines unChristians as enemies of God, you need to back that up with what Christianity has actually said and defined.

    Your bloviating is worthless.

  16. Read Voltaire. In a nutshell, when the Christians burned his 'Philosophical Dictionary,' he said, 'We have come this far, now they burn the philosopher's book instead of the philosopher.'

Or you could read the 'Hammer of Witches.'

    Read Voltaire. ...

Is completely worthless, and strongly indicates that you were blowing it out your hat again.

  19. Voltaire had some direct experience of Christianity. Have you?

  20. Harry when you say Christianity tells them they must purge the unChristians, and defines unChristians as enemies of God, my, or Voltaire's direct experience of Christianity is completely beside the point.

Coincidentally, I happened to stumble upon a term that describes you perfectly, a pomofascist: someone with a PhD in the postmodern humanities, indifferent to individual rights, championing the collective good by authority of self-appointment, and disdainful of truth. The pomofascist seeks to turn history and reason upside-down so it flatters progressive causes, however many lies of omission or commission it takes.

(SFAIK, you don't have a PhD, but the instances beyond counting of your author name dropping, and criticizing other's seeming ignorance, gives you the title in effect.)

  21. So, reality doesn't count?

It isn't only Christianity that defines all outsiders as enemies of god; all monotheisms do that. From enemy of god to culprit deserving death is a small step taken over and over by Christians.

But let's talk cases. There is no doubt that Christians murdered all the Cathars. Why do you think they did that?

    ReplyDelete
  22. So, reality doesn't count?

What counts is that you made a claim you can't remotely back up. That makes you a liar.

It isn't only Christianity that defines all outsiders as enemies of god ...

Prove that Christianity defines outsiders as enemies of god.

(Which, given the inherent inanity of that sentence, I am sure you cannot do.)

And what about that CU post? (Oh, yeah, forgot. You have long since memholed that.)

    ReplyDelete
  23. How abut you explain why there are no Cathars? They were not murdered by marxists but they were all murdered

  24. So when you say Christianity tells them they must purge the unChristians, and defines unChristians as enemies of God, you need to back that up with what Christianity has actually said and defined.

    Your misdirection is worthless.

  25. Was Billy Graham a Christian? Did he accurately interpret Matt. 7: 13, 14?

    What does destruction mean?

I find your questions tiresome; Christians cannot even agree whether you can be saved by faith or by works and have murdered millions in the dispute. If the doctrine of Christianity is so clear as you imply, then that dispute could never have arisen. We know that Christianity obligates murder of outsiders because Christians at all times and places have believed so. Since religion is merely a matter of opinion, there is no appeal from this conclusion.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I find your questions tiresome;

    Correction: question. Just one.

... Christianity tells them they must purge the unChristians who are, after all and by definition, enemies of god.

    Where?

Of course you find that question tiresome -- you trotted out a load of crap, and when called on it, you wear yourself out goal post shifting. You wouldn't be so worn out if you a) didn't spew such nonsense in the first place, or b) acquired even a smidgen of intellectual integrity and acknowledge your errors.

(As for What does "destruction" mean?, well that will just have to wait until you either back up what you wrote, or admit it is bollocks.)

And, speaking of bollocks and that gaping chasm where integrity should be ...

    ReplyDelete
  27. As so many times before, you demand evidence, get it and pretend you haven't seen it.

As for what destruction means, that was a rhetorical question. We know historically what it means. I could not count the times you have deplored the supposed 100 million murders committed by socialist, but I can easily count the ties you have deplored the much larger number of murders committed by Christians.

It is that middle part -- getting -- that is completely at sea.

Had you done so, you could easily link to it.

    Instead, you prevaricate.

    RTO standard.
